About Me
My name is Jessica Baron
I am a senior education student at The University of Maine Farmington. I began my undergraduate program pursuing an early childhood special education major with a certificate for children birth to age five. At the end of my junior year I decided I wanted to do more, I decided to dual cert and add the kindergarten to third grade certificate to my degree. Throughout my four years at UMF I have also taken courses to earn a minor in rehabilitation services.
This spring semester is my last semester taking courses at UMF, and in the fall I am planning to do my student teaching internship hopefully in the Southern Maine, Portland area. After I graduate I hope to get a job working in a diverse and inclusive public preschool or kindergarten classroom.
I am born and raised in Manchester, NH and grew up in a family of pretty much all girls. I have three sisters, one two years older and two that are twins and six years younger.
Since I have been in Maine I have adopted two cats, Hershel who is a rescue from the Franklin County Animal Shelter and Celeste who is a kitten I have recently adopted from friends. (FYI: I am definitely turning into a crazy cat lady.)
Science and math were my two favorite subjects in school when I was a child and throughout high school. I believe I had great and exciting teachers that made the topic interesting and fun! In my high school chemistry class I got to hold fire! I also dissected a bullfrog in biology. (FYI: I did NOT take the class that dissected cats.)
This semester I am excited to learn about science education for the young child and different ways this can be taught that is creative and fun for children. This blog with be used as a way to share my knowledge, activity ideas, and love for everything science. Subscribe to follow my journey.
Creative in Science!
