Giant Squid: In 2012 a group of scientists from Japan's National Science Museum along with colleagues from Japanese public broadcaster NHK and the Discovery Channel filmed a giant squid in its natural habitat for the first time. How big is the Giant Squid? Like other squids and octopuses, it has two eyes, a beak, eight arms, two feeding tentacles, and a funnel however, all of it is much larger! The two feeding tentacles are much longer than the other eight tentacles, almost twice the length of the squids body. The feeding tentacles are about 10 meters long and covered with sharp-toothed suckers. The squid uses these to shoot out and snatch their prey. A bird-like, sharp beak sits at the center of the eight tentacle arms. Here the prey is is sliced into bite-sized pieces, then ground and digested.
